10 truths about your wardrobe.
Here are the 10 truths that came up for me during this time:
1/ Your style changes with time and it is Ok.
As we are getting older, it is normal that the clothes we used to wear 5, 10 or 15 years ago, are not suitable to our ever-evolving Style.
2/ Your style grows with you.
The more confident you are in your skin, the more it shows in your Style and the more you dare trying different items of clothing together.
3/ When you re-discover your wardrobe, it is like checking-in with yourself.
Take some time off to do it every now and again. Go down memory lane if you wish, but don’t cling onto old clothes that are not expressing who you are now.
4/ You keep things in your wardrobe for the wrong reason.
Either because it was an investment piece, a great bargain or a sentimental piece. Only keep clothes that suits your Style, your Body shape and your colours.
5/ You have enough clothes to make lots and lots of different combinations.
You just need to get a little bit out of your comfort zone.
6/ You have too many unflattering clothes
… and too many home/garden/gym outfits in which you feel so comfortable and that you end up wearing for this reason only.
7/ Keeping clothes that don’t fit for too long is not good for you.
Make a note every term to go through your wardrobe and get rid of what doesn’t fit anymore ( wrong cut, wrong style, wrong size).
8/ Shopping in your wardrobe forces you to be creative.
And there is always a reward in being creative : a compliment received, a glance in a mirror, a smile on your face.
9/ There are always treasures in your wardrobe that could do with a little mending, upcycling.
I found at least 5 or 6 pieces that I took out of my wardrobe and that will be given a new lease on life. If you can’t do it yourself, give some work to a local seamstress.
10/ It really helps to have a clear vision of your Signature Style, your body shape and your colours before checking in with your wardrobe.
